Introduction/Interests:
Mark Pitney graduated from UNSW with honours is 1984. After completing his training in Cardiology he was one of the first people in Australia to complete a fellowship in Interventional Cardiology. Since that time he has remained a high volume angioplasty operator and has been a faculty member of numerous national and International meetings. He continues to have a keen interest in new stent designs and devices. He is passionate about reducing complications during cardiac procedures and is the cofounder and chairman of the organizing C’tee for Australia’s largest annual meeting on avoidance and management of complications in the Cardiac Catheter Theaters. He is currently the Head of Department at Sutherland Hospital, Clinical Director of Sutherland Heart Clinic, Chairman of the Medical Advisory C’tee for the Sutherland and Eastern Heart Clinics and staff specialist at Prince Of Wales Hospital. Dr Pitney consults at Cardiology Associates, and is also a Conjoint Lecturer at University of NSW.

Dr Pitney is involved in teaching junior doctors and continues to take part in research to improve treatment and technology for Cardiac patients. He participates in national and international Cardiology meetings as a presenter and Faculty Member.
